FSPC is a member of Paddle NWT (formerly NWT Kayak Association), which is the territorial sport organization and governing body for paddling in the NWT. The NWTKA is a constituent representative organization of Sport North and is also responsible to Municipal & Community Affairs (MACA), a department of the Government of the Northwest Territories. The NWTKA flows core funding from MACA to the FSPC, which enables our programs and activities.

FSPC’s membership with the Alberta Whitewater Association is integral to what we do. AWA supports the FSPC through:

  • NCCP training and accreditation for kayak leaders, instructors and coaches.
  • Summer Club Kayak Coach/Instructor Support Program.
  • The opportunity to participate in Canadian National Slalom, Freestyle, Wildwater and Canoe Polo competitions – including National Championships, National Team Trials and International races.
  • Commercial Liability and Optional Sport Accident Insurance.
  • Information on Grants and other opportunities for the clubs.

Through the Get Active and On the Land Grant Program, the NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA) has provided FSPC with financial support to help run training courses, paddling events, and winter kayaking sessions open to the public. The funds are typically used to cover the high pool rental costs that come with offering active paddling opportunities during the winter months.

FSPC is grateful for our partnership with NRS. NRS helps to support FSPC with access to pro-deals for purchasing top-notch paddling gear and equipment used by our membership at every club event.

NRS was founded on the idea that a positive approach to business could enhance the lives of its community of stakeholders while outperforming the cynical and exploitative practices of many conventional companies.
